F21 Mini Haul! July 2015

Happy Wednesday everyone~
Forever 21 had a buy one get one free sale on all sale items, so I decided to get a couple of items for the rest of summer!
p.s. I apologize in advance for the blurry bad quality photos ><

The first item is the Crisscross Lace-Trimmed Cami. Here's what it looked like online:
Its a really feminine pink color with a cream colored lace trim at the bottom. The straps are adjustable and they criss cross in the back. This top was originally priced as $14.90, on sale for $9.99.

This top looked really soft online but when I received it, I was really surprised at the kind of fabric it was made out of (its 100% Rayon). Its sort of rough. It's definitely a top that needs a bandeau since its kinda sheer and it's flowy.
I mean, it definitely looks nicer in the picture provided online, but I guess that's normal. I ordered a medium.

The next item is this Lace Paneled Cami. Here's the online photo:
The color says teal but its definitely more of a blue color. It has a pretty circle lace pattern panel in the back. The bottom is pretty flowy. I ordered a medium.
This top was originally priced as $15.90, on sale for $14.31.
This top is softer than the first and the straps are also adjustable. This is my favorite top out of all of them. It is a bit sheer though. This is more fitted towards the top and flowy at the bottom. It looks longer in the online photo, or is that just me? I still like this top though.

The next item is this Palm Print Crop Top
This top features a palm and flower print and a pretty wide neckline. It's stretchy but there isn't much to stretch (y'know what I mean?)
Regular price: $14.90, on sale for $13.41. Ordered a medium.

So this is my first actual crop top and I got this in a size medium. I'm about 5'1" and this went to my belly button. I felt so exposed ;A; but its ok with this skirt. This shirt also does a weird thing in the middle of the neckline where it'll bunch up and have an awkward gap, unless you're constantly pulling it down. This also had a weird cardboard smell to it.

The last item is this Crochet Lace Mini Dress
Its a white dress with pretty crochet lace detailing. There's a zipper on the side and a hook at the top of the zipper. The back also has a stretchy panel. Ordered a medium.
Regular price: $24.80, on sale for $16.99.
This dress reached to about mid thigh. I was most excited for this item. Unfortunately I thought it fit a little awkwardly on the top part. It was either too low or too high (there was no in between for me... small boob problems). Also, the side that has the zipper would keep bunching up, kinda like when you sit down while wearing a zipped up zipper hoodie? The hook closure also came undone a couple of times throughout my 5/10 minutes of wearing this (but I did run downstairs to show my sister). This is definitely beachwear.

While I'm not like super duper happy about the things I bought (cons of online shopping), it was a good deal. I got all of this for $33.80 (with tax). So that comes out to less than $10 per item. I ordered everything on July 3rd and received it today! (July 8)
I hope you're having a great day! Thanks for reading!

L.A. Girl HD PRO Conceal in Medium Beige

I heard a lot about this product online, so I couldn't wait to try it! I came across it at G-Stage, which sells mostly clothes and accessories and some beauty products. They had an entire display out for these along with testers which I really appreciated because upon looking at the large color range online, I could not decide what color I was. So after playing around with the beige shades, I decided on Medium Beige (GC978).

The website sells it for $5.00 but it's available for a lower price in stores. The website claims:
"Crease-resistant, opaque coverage in a creamy yet lightweight texture. The long-wearing formula camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness and skin imperfections. Provides complete, natural-looking coverage, evens skin tone, covers dark circles and minimizes fine lines around the eyes"

This concealer has a brush tip applicator, which is convenient. However, I'm always iffy on these kinds of applicators because its easy to get dirty and it'll hold the bacteria. I do like it though, honestly, because it's so easy to apply.

Here is a swatch of it on my hand. It's a bit lighter than my hand but it matches my face, so we're good.

Below is a picture of the pen test (couldn't find a sharpie so I used a ballpoint pen) which I normally do with concealers.

So it's got an okay coverage, nothing to brag about, but its alright. I do find myself using it more often than my Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer, since it has a lighter coverage and costs less than KVD.
There isn't much of a smell to this concealer, so that's great.
I'm also super duper happy that it matches my skin tone so well, since I always seem to have a problem with that.
This concealer does a great job at helping with redness and small blemishes, and often I'll just apply this and put powder and I'm ready to go. It doesn't look cakey so its great for a natural look.
The only complaint that I have about this is that sometimes, it'll dispense a clear substance instead of the concealer, but that's easily fixed by shaking the tube. Otherwise, it's pretty good stuff. There's a great color range and the price is reasonable.

Does it live up to the qualities listed on the website?

  • "Crease resistant"?
    • I've never experienced creasing with any concealers, to be honest.
  • "Opaque coverage in a creamy yet lightweight texture"?
    • Not exactly the opaque-est (is that a word?) but it is creamy and pretty lightweight.
  • "Natural looking coverage?"
    • I'd say so!
And, they don't test on animals!

Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over! Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

Hi everyone!~ Long time, no see... Sorry about that. But I am here, at 3 am, writing this for you c:

When it first came out I found a coupon that would give you a free cleanser if you bought a moisturizer. Excited to try out this new line by Olay, I picked up this moisturizer and the Out of This Swirled Deep Pore Clean and Exfoliating Scrub (which I will eventually review and link here). This honestly took lots of Target trips to find. One location would have the moisturizer, but no more cleanser, or vice versa. Finally, while vacationing in Vegas, I found both!

So here is this fairly new Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over! Hydrating Gel Moisturizer. Okay, maybe its a bit old. I got this in January and I just finished it about a week ago(in June). But I did not use it daily, so it would most likely last about a month or two if it is used daily. I will get back to that.

Here is what the website claims:
Give your skin a splash of 24-hour hydration. This lightweight moisturizing gel is oil-free and won’t clog pores. Formulated with a powder, it absorbs quickly and makes skin look less oily. And it’s infused with the essence of honeysuckle and white tea, leaving you feeling invigorated and energized.

Now, I absolutely adore gel moisturizers, because of trying the Garnier one (which I plan on buying someday). So until now, I had no idea that the moisturizer was formulated with powder. This clears up so much for me now.
This is what the moisturizer looks like:

Right off the bat, you can see that it does not at all look like a gel. It looks like a cream. This was a disappointment to me, since I was expecting something like the Garnier consistency, but I still gave this a try.

Although I'm not sure what honeysuckle or white tea smells like, it smelled very fresh, and a little sweet. There was something weird about it though. I can't explain it. It was kind of stuffy... It was as if it was trying to cover up the fresh scent? You have to smell it to understand.

When first applying the moisturizer, I noticed that it does have a very slight cooling sensation, and does absorb quickly. This is good, because it would make a good moisturizer when applying makeup right after. I found myself having to dip my fingertip in about three times to cover my face. Once for the nose area, one for the forehead area and one for the chin area. This definitely felt like I was using a lot of moisturizer each time. Perhaps it is because it absorbs so quickly. But seeing that it only comes with 1.7 fl oz, it was kind of a lot of product to use, which justifies my estimate of this only lasting about a month or two if used daily.

It feels very lightweight as it claims to be. My face felt clean and refreshed. However, this moisturizer was a bit drying for me. I did not feel that it was as moisturizing as it claimed. Mind you, I do not have dry skin. I have combination skin with an oily T-Zone. It makes sense since I now know that it is formulated with powder. Before today, I had no idea. I would imagine this to be a good choice for someone with oily skin. I used this on days where I thought I would be sweating a lot or if it was a hot day, since it was pretty refreshing.
It also gives that squeaky feeling that I get after applying Bath and Body Works lotion (which I abhor). But I managed to get over that.

While I do not support its claim to "provide moisture for 24 hours", it is not a terrible moisturizer and the entire line is quite cute. I would recommend that someone with very oily skin to try this. It might work well. I personally would not repurchase this though, since I don't believe it works with my skin.

Thank you if you are reading this, I am very sorry that I am not consistent. I hope to be in the future, but I have many commitments and time to blog is not easy to come by.

Perfumes~

Hi lovely people!! So, just taking a break from finals studying... Lately, I have been wanting to purchase a new perfume since its been about a year since I last had one (DKNY Be Delicious). It was the smallest size and lasted for about a year and I spent 2013 using whatever I had left of Harajuku perfumes, Bath and Body Works, and the best kind: samples. As of now, I want to invest in one that will be like a 'signature scent'. I also want it to be long lasting. I'm thinking about trying some out with rollerballs to see how they wear and whatnot.

I'm normally drawn to fruity, bright scents, and I don't mind if they have a touch of floral. I don't really like anything warm like vanilla, since it makes me feel sick :c and nothing too mature, since I'm still a teenager!

I had a sample of Daisy by Marc Jacobs and I really liked it. It was long lasting and a little went a long way. I honestly have no problem purchasing that one but I wasn't sure if I wanted that one exactly since it was a bit strong.

Daisy Eau So Fresh is more of my cup of tea... It's nice, fruity, and light! However, it only comes in a large size and I'm not sure if I like it THAT much. I'd probably get tired of it. I'd stick to the purse sprays, even though they're not as good of a value. I'm really thinking about this one though. Tell me if any of you have tried it/ have it!!
Coach Poppy is another contender, but many of the reviews say it doesn't last long. It is a little sweeter than I'd like, but its still very pretty.
I have also been looking for Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea Tropical, since one of the top notes is lychee. If you didn't know, lychee basically smells like heaven. I also like green tea, so this sounds pretty perfect. However, some reviews say its too sweet, but I haven't ever gotten to smell this in person since I can't find it anywhere! Online only, but at prices that are too good to be true.
Here's the last one: Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs. I really like how this one is lighter than Lola. However, I don't think this one is up there on the favorites list. Probably won't purchase this one unless I hear some good things about it. It's an eau de parfum, so its more potent than an eau de toilette, so thats always good.

So these are my picks so far... Let me know if you guys know which ones are good or if you have any recommendations, because I'm extremely indecisive.

My Week in Pictures! 11/24-11/29

Hi guys! I want to start doing a "My week in pictures" kind of thing, since it is sort of cute. Knowing me, I won't post every week, but I'll try, just to let you guys get a little more personal with me ^^;. I don't have instagram, so how else will I share my photos? Okay, so it's not Saturday yet, but I will be super busy tomorrow doing all of my Thanksgiving break hw (I have a tooon ;A;). So here is my week in pictures! (Mostly food but...)

Sunday:
On Sunday, my family and I went out to eat at this really cute shabu shabu place called Jazz Cat Cafe in Rowland Heights/City of Industry. It was really yummy and fun. Each person gets their own soup, so we were all able to choose. I got creamy miso, and it was super delicious! I had so much food and ate it for breakfast the next day. Here, I got the T-Rex version, so they give you more meat and less veggies. After dinner, I got Half and Half, which is sooo yummy, but I didn't get to take a picture of that.
Monday:
On Monday, I went in to Chem to get extra credit. I was there from 10 am to 3 pm. I honestly don't mind, since I love chem, but it was really time consuming and I was super exhausted after!
Tuesday:
 Tuesday was my 16th birthday! The top right is my lunch from Guppy House. (Flour noodles in a veal broth with Taiwanese tempura<3 2="" 85="" a="" and="" at="" ayce="" bakery.="" birthday="" brulee="" c="" cake="" chocopies="" degress="" from="" gave="" had="" i="" is="" it="" lastly="" lovely="" me="" mom="" my="" p="" sake="" since="" some="" sushi="" taro="" them="" then="" there="" they="" told="" was="">
And Mr. Penguin stopped by and gave me a present!
Wednesday:
On Wednesday, I made a cheesecake. First time too! And I didn't burn it like I normally do to everything else I make. x) We ate it on thursday for Thanksgiving!

But I don't have any pictures for thursday, since it was hard to get pictures, or today, since today was just laundry day~~~
However, I did do some online black friday shopping and got a few people crossed off my list!
I hope you enjoyed!

Covergirl Natureluxe Foundation in 335 Dune

Hi loves~ Sorry again for the long hiatus. But I am back today! Sorry ;-; I said I'd do a post about my birthday but there isn't much to post about that so I may or may not do a post on that later. So... Sorry for the URL change again, I promise I won't change it again for a while. I just wanted it to match my tumblr URL so... Sorry!!! I won't go and change the other pics though so I saved the previous URL okay. Now, onto the review!
So, this is the Covergirl Natureluxe Foundation and I'm sure there are millions of reviews of this but oh well. I really don't buy much anymore so yea... I bought this in the color Dune and it only came out to about $4 since it was on clearance at Target. I have been using it quite often, but not daily. It is a light foundation that has a mild, clean kind of smell to it. However, it can be too perfumey to people who are sensitive to scented products.

I got this in 335 Dune, which is the second to last color. It is not really all that dark. I don't think that the color range for this foundation is too bad, but it is not as diverse as other foundations are.

Here is what it  looks like when you open it. It's not the nicest packaging since you do have to squeeze it and it sucks because it explodes when you open it sometimes due to the pressure. Like it did when I did this review.

So here is a gigantic swatch...

What it looks like when smudged out. As you can see, it is pretty sheer and also, a little goes quite a long way. It looks like it leaves a white cast but its ok really. I just didn't blend it all the way. And it'll oxidize after applying, so don't worry.

So, here we have the sharpie dot test. And, as a result, it really doesn't cover the sharpie dot. So, we can conclude that this is a very sheer foundation and it is meant for people who don't have much to hide. I use this on days where my face is reddish, but I still have to use concealer to cover blemishes. It's not a bad foundation, but I don't think I have a use for it really.
Throughout the day, it doesn't really do much, I mean, it is still there when I take it off at night, but the coverage is hard to monitor since it doesn't offer much coverage in the first place.
Good thing I only paid $4 for it because I don't think I would have paid full price for it, since it is so sheer.

Covergirl Natureluxe Foundation in 335 Dune
Rating: 8/10
Price: Honestly, I couldn't find it online, but my clearance sticker said $9.79 for Target
Where?: Drugstores
Repurchase?: Probably not.

Cat Pajamas!

Hi everyone! Sorry about the long wait for a post! Here, I come to you with a short but ultra kawaii post~

These are my favorite thing this month. Its a super cute pajama set! The shirt is lightweight and grey (grey, gray?) and reads,"i  cat naps"
The shorts are thin, light blue, and have a cute cat print! They are also elastic with drawstrings.
You know these are cute!
I got these at Forever 21 for $12.80. Most expensive pj's I own.

Sorry I haven't been posting! I haven't had a free day at all last month. Not even the weekends, believe it or not. Fridays were homework. Saturdays were Key Club/Science Olympiad. Sundays were days out with the family and more homework. So busy! T^T I promise that I will post whenever I have free time. I've been wanting to review that Natureluxe foundation I got for like $4. Alright, now I'm off to finish homework!

Stay kawaii~

Forever 21 Haul

Uguu my hands are PEELING. We did a Car Wash for Key Club yesterday and my skin is crying! Anyways. Sorry for all of the clothes hauls lately... We'll get back to normal makeup reviews soon. So, I recently ordered some stuff off of Forever 21 and here they are... Oh. For reference, I'm about 5 feet and 105 lbs.

The first thing is this shirt:
This was called "Oversized Ditsy Key Tee". I read in the reviews that it would shrink, so I got a medium. Honestly, this is my least favorite item. It's really awkward when I wear it. So, I don't know what I'm going to do with it. It's really unflattering. The sleeves are really long... It's also really sheer, so am undershirt is necessary. This shirt was $7.80, so it wasn't too bad. I'll have to find a way to wear it.

Okay, so heres the next item:
This is the "Girly Chambray Skater Skirt". I think it's my favorite item! I got this in black, size small. They have two other colors. A dark denim blue and a light wash denim. When I went back to the website today, they no longer had the black ones. This goes up to my waist and about a couple inches above my knees. At first I was scared that the fabric would be thin, but it was actually really thick! There is a side zipper for closure.
There's no elastic band, so I recommend you try it on at the store. I wish I could have done that because I probably would've gotten a medium, since it is a bit tight and a little short for me. The small fits, but comfort wise, I think I would choose a medium. Unless the medium was too big.. Uh. Well. About this skirt. Yes. Okay. The one complaint I have about it is that it wrinkles very very easily. Don't fold it or you'll have an awkward crease. IRON TO THE RESCUE.
This skirt was $13.80, which isn't too bad. They have a knit skater skirt online now for $10.80 and I wish I got that one instead. Stupid new arrivals.
excuse the dirty mirror
Here is a photo of me wearing my favorite outfit. This skirt and a cat shirt.

Here is the next item:
This is a "Rose Print Tee". This is such a pretty shirt, in my opinion. It's loose and flowy. I got a medium in case of shrinkage. It was $13.80. The shirt is very lightweight, soft, and smooth. But I know the smoothness will be gone after I wash it today, since I had a floral tank top that was the same material. Okay, I hope you understand when I say this but this shirt is cold. I don't know how to explain it. I suppose that means its made of light fabric. I don't know. I would've gotten a small but Forever 21 and shrinkage are like best friends I dont-

Oookay, next item.
This is a really cute polka dot top with a peter pan collar and a peplum bottom of sorts. It's that material that these kind of shirts are made out of, if you know what I mean. It was on sale for $11.99 (originally around $17.80). It's very cute! It has a button closure down the back. I ordered a medium. There isn't much to say here.

Next!
This is exactly what it looks like. A tank top with bicycles. I ordered a medium, but should've chose small. But again... shrinkage. This was $7.80 and it's pretty long on me. Very cute.

Last item:
An owl print shirt! This was $13.80 and its super cute. In the reviews, I read that it runs small and that it does. Its very short and it does in fact run small. I ordered a medium, and I wish I ordered a large. Its cute though. The collar is made out of 'dress shirt material' while the majority of the shirt is chiffon.
Its really sheer as you'll see in the photo below.

Sheer.

So, thats that. Thanks for reading, lovelies!
